Sir Thomas Roe, the first British ambassador, returned to England after meeting Emperor Jahangir at his court.

Shivaji conquered the Sinhagarh fort from the Mughals. This triumph laid on the shoulders of Tanaji who was martyred in this assault. Shivaji declared "Gaar ala paan singh gela" meaning the fort was conquered but the lion was lost.
