Daily newspaper 'Mumbai Samachar' is published.

For the first time in Asia, postage stamps were issued to the general public from Sindh Province in Karachi.

The first line to the south was launched by the Madras Railway Company. It ran for a distance of 63 miles between Weyasarpandi and Walajah Road (Arcot).
