1538 - Turkish Armada retired. The arrival of a new Portuguese fleet.
1866 - Allahabad court was established for Uttar Pradesh territory, it sat in Agra with five Judges between 1866 and 1868. It also has a bench in Lucknow.
1879 - Sri Thanwardas Lilaram Vaswani, professor, saint poet, great orator and prolific writer, was born in Hyderabad, Sindh (now in Pakistan). He was the founder of Mira Movement.
1948 - National Cadet Corps was first established.

1998 - Prof. K. S. Hegde (75), former Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University and educationist, dies in New Delhi. He was selected by the Government of India for overseas scholarship for post graduate studies and higher technical training abroad during the pre-independence era.
