Some mountain battery trains kept the Indian element alive as part of the Royal Artillery. Recently, it has been established that 8 companies of the Bombay Artillery survived the ax and now 5 (Bombay) Mountain Battery. This day is now celebrated as Regiment of Artillery Raising Day.

Bahadur Shah II ascended the throne at the age of 62 after the death of his father Akbar Shah II and became the Emperor of Delhi.
