Amir Taimur of Tamerlane invaded India with 92 horses and 90,000 horsemen and reached the banks of the Indus near the city of Attari (now in Pakistan). He then attacked Delhi because its Muslim sultanate was very tolerant of Hindu idolatry. A Mongolian follower of Sufism, he was the most cruel of all the conquerors.
